A Day in a Life

Short documentary, 2017, 25 min.

The Yamatake family, owners of a small fishmonger’s shop in the fishing village of Heda on the Japanese Izu peninsula, fishes Suruga Bay small-scale. This documentary was shot in 24 hours, aboard the Ni Ho the fishing boat and in the Yamatakes’ shop. The film is a modest observation focussing on the relationship between man and nature and the simplicity and beauty of everyday things. A slow film, taking the experience of time as it is really experienced as its starting point.
